Dornier 17Z Stammkennzeihen (Finnish Air Force)

Salut!

Attached below should be WNr / Stkz -table (word-file) for the Dornier 17 Zs used by Finnish Air Force. Research and data by Pentti Manninen, I have not been involved in any way. All data included is on solid, documented base.

As you see four Stammkennzeihcen and eight Verbandskennungen are still missing. Is anyone able to fill in the blanks?

Thanking in advance,
Kari

Re: Dornier 17Z Stammkennzeihen (Finnish Air Force)

The first detailed list of the Finnish Do 17s, I remember was Suomen Ilmavoimien Historia 2 published in 1971. In this publication, apparently the "U5" of KG 2 was misread as a "V5" and it is not much of a stretch to mistake a "5" for an "S". Also in this publication are a few shots of Do 17s before the application of Finnish markings. One of the Do 17s was apparently delivered with "CQ+HG" codes painted on the aircraft. So it may be that there are really no Verbandkennzeichen missing.

Best Regards,

Artie Bob

New data warmly welcomed. Please contact the data table author directly, if possible.
