A superb database and I would encourage all to assist Larry & Doug with additions and weeding out duplications & the inevitable inaccuracies

Re: Luftwaffe Officer Summaries for 2023

Doug and Larry,

Thank you for your ongoing maintenance of one of the main pillars of Luftwaffe research.

I especially appreciate:
  • the extent of the biographical data in each officer's summary.
  • your well-thought-out conventions for data entry, and the consistency of your data formatting.
  • your provision of a change log with each new edition of the summary. It's a useful resource, and it provides a very impressive insight into your dedication and thoroughness.
Much obliged,
Leon Venter

Re: Luftwaffe Officer Summaries for 2023

Is it just me but when I click on the Officer Career summary link I am diverted to here, the TOCH home page. It was working properly a week ago.
TIA Chris

Re: Luftwaffe Officer Summaries for 2023

A minor update concerning

Josef Bisping:
†13/14.02.45 Hptm., 3./Vers.Verb.OKL KIA - in Ar 234 B-2/N (SM+FE) crash while attempting a night take-off from Havelhausen near Oranienburg. [Version #2: 23.02.45 Hptm., 3./Versuchverband OKL KIA - Ar 234 B-2N crashed following a night take-off from Oranienburg.] Buried at Oranienburg-Lehnitz.

Albert Vogl
13/14.02.45 Hptm., with Versuchverbandes OKL airborne radar operator, KIA – in Ar
234 B-2/N V15 (SM+FE) that crashed near Oranienburg when the airfield lights were abruptly switched off causing the a/c to stall. Buried in Lehnitz

These two entries can be tidied (they were killed in same aircraft).
The date is confirmed as 13.02.45, there are photos off their graves at:
http://www.luftkrieg-oberhavel.de/webs/germany/g022.htm
Also, the aircraft was not V15, which was WNr.130025, but WNr.140145. SM+FE is correct.

Re: Luftwaffe Officer Summaries for 2023

First of all: best wishes for the new year 2024!
I too have a minor update, concerning:
HOLLAENDER, Rolf. c.01.44 Hptm., Kp.-Chef Stabskomp. I./NJG 2.

August 1940: Leutnant in 5./NJG 1 (Do 17Z U5+BB & G9+JN), from September 1940 in 2./NJG 2 (unit was converted, Do 17Z R4+YK) - source: Flugbuch Kurt Wacker
||
7 January 1943: 24.00 - 05.00 Geburtstagfeier von Oblt. Holländer.

15 December 1943: Oblt Holländer begrüßt
(logbook Elsässer, member of Ergänzungsstaffel/NJG 2)
||
April 1945: car crash while serving with II./NJG 2 (presumably Stab II./NJG 2).

Spelling according to the Flugbücher and logbook Elsässer is 'Holländer'.

Kind regards,
Timon
