Re: New book devoted to Soviet aces in the Korean War

Viktor,
The copy I ordered from you arrived today. An excellent book. It amounts to a history of Soviet Russian aerial activities in the Korean War, and thus an expansion and continuation of Seidov's earlier soft-cover book covering the 1950-51 period. 452 pages, of good quality paper stock, so that the photographs (black and white, and color) reproduce quite well. It is roughly 9 inches tall, by 7 inches wide, and probably weighs two pounds or more. There are numerous side view drawings of MiG-15s and UN aircraft, plus 7 fold-outs (no staples!) with four views (top, bottom, left, right) of an aircraft on each side. The chapters are arranged in chronological order, and scattered through the book are short biographies of each ace; date and place of birth and death, dates of promotions, awards received by date, and a victory list giving date and type which includes claims in WW2. Two lists of aces (both Soviet and UN) as appendices, an index to names in Cyrilic, and an additional index to UN pilots in Latin. Entirely in Russian. Highly recommended, even if I can't read it (yet).

Frank.

Re: New book devoted to Soviet aces in the Korean War

Mirek,
I paid $60 for the book, plus $27 postage for air mail to the US. I don't know how Viktor ships to Europe, but it has to be less. He listed $90 for book and postage in his original post; perhaps that was a standard price to cover shipping anywhere in the world.

Enjoy!

Frank.
