Fourth Fighter Group

Can I ask if Schiffer's publication 'Debden Warbirds' is a useful addition for the study of this fighter group? I already have 'Tumult In The Clouds' and '1000 Destroyed' and was hoping to hear from anyone who might already have this book whether it is a worthwhile addition given the expensive nature of Schiffer's books. Thanks.

Re: Fourth Fighter Group

I received "Debden Warbirds" as a gift; had I had found it on my own I would have passed. The book is primarily a mission by mission recounting of 4FG operations in the ETO and features some interesting excerpts from combat reports by returning pilots, together with some of Frank Speer's personal observations.

If you want to round out your 4FG collection I'd recommend acquiring Ethell and Price's "Escort to Berlin" instead.
