Spitfire shot down LeMans June 1944

F/O Vincent MOODY, piloting a Spitfire for 131 Squadron, was shot down over LeMans, France on Jun 12, 1944.
I am researching for his ancestors. Any information concerning F/O MOODY, his plane, or his mission at the time would be most helpful,

Re: Spitfire shot down LeMans June 1944

J15362 Flt Lt Vincent Kenneth Moody DFC (from West Middle Sable, Clare Co, NS) of 131 Sqn was shot down by Bf 109s during Rodeo 169 to Le Mans Airfield PM 12 Jun 44. His Spitfire, serial MD123, must have crashed close to Yvre L'Eveque, 7 kms east of Le Mans as that is where he is still buried. If he was shot down by German fighters, I am sure that someone else on this Board can help say who; failing that I can check when I return home tonight

Chris, there is a claim for a Spitfire @14:30 on that date by Fw. Gustav Sturm of 2./JG 27 south of Laval. Isn't that close to LeMans?

Some 60 km westwards of LeMans (72000).
