50 Fw-190A-3a found in Turkey...?

According to an article in a turkish newspaper..."Over 50 missing warplanes found buried in central Turkey"...

http://www.hurriyetdailynews.com/ove...&NewsCatID=341

How true can this be? Somebody who knows more?

Friendly greetings

Hans K

Not shure any A 20 remained in 1947, some He 111 (besides Fw 190) possibly not either.
Anyone find this similar to RAF Spitfires in Burma ... so will not hold my breath.
Thanks -Ed

Re: 50 Fw-190A-3a found in Turkey...?

Checking the Butcherbird books I have, there're not too many words about Fw-190 and Turkey, and nothing about how they ended. Only in one, "Fw-190 in Foreign Service" by Jackiewicz/Fleischer/Bock this can be found, and I quote:
"The planes served until 1949, when last machines were written off the list."

So. let's stay tuned and see what pops up...!

Greetings Hans K

Hello,
Anything new heard on the Turkish FW-190's ?
They are known to have had 72. But German sources had said that another 8 had been sent, therefore 80 a/c.
From Scramble's "Turkish Military Aircraft"
The 72 are listed by number and some indeed were at Kayseri which was some kind of Depot.
I quote-
"In December 1946 only 16 were serviceable with the 3rd Company and 14 with the 4th Company.
The last flight was made by Lt. Organ Aksu in November 1947". Yet within the list is " serial 4126 - 5 Alay/3BI, 5A/2BI - 17 JUN 49 - Crashed Bursa, 1 killed..
Under Withdrawn from use 1947 are -16 a/c.
Fate unknown are 18
Of the 18, 13 were reported at Kayseri Depot.
So possibly.....

Alex

the "collateral evidence" for Alex is here:
http://www.tayyareci.com/digerucakla...ve50/fw190.asp
mr.Haluk Sevel shows the info that those 72 Würger had serial nr from 4101 to 4172, which were all sent to turkish in 1943
