Luftflotte 3 Units August 1942

Whilst going through my Operation Jubilee notes I have found a couple of gaps, so I wonder if anybody can answer the following questions about Luftflotte 3 units in August 1942.

Where was Stab.KG40 based?
Where was 1.(F)/33 based and who was the Commanding Officer?
Who was the Commanding Officer of 1.(F)/123?
Who was the Commanding Officer of IV./KG4?
Did 9./KG40 operate He111's or is this a typo for He177's?
Did KG40 and KG77 have a name as well?

Thanks for any help.

Re: Luftflotte 3 Units August 1942

Hi Steve,

The Staffelführer of 1.(F)/123 was Oblt. Karl Rueck. He had been flying with the Luftwaffe since the Spanish Civil War.

Cheers,
Andrew A.

Steve: Although I might be wrong:
Stab/KG 40 was at Merignac
1/33 was at Buc
IV/KG 4 was Maj Karl-Gerd Roth
9/KG 40 flew Condors.

I presume you mean like KG 4 was General Wever? If so, no

Chris

Thanks for all that.

Yes I did mean like KG4 was General Weaver and KG2 was Holzammer. I wonder why some units didn't have names.

Thanks again

Steve
