Nacht Jagd Schule Schleissheim

Hi, I was looking for any information about the Night Fighter Training School at Schleissheim. I was aware that my Grandfather was a flight instructor in the Luftwaffe called Kurt Martin and was killed 2 months before my Mother was born. Other than that information was very limited. I have just come across a plaque, probably a memorial, engraved to Feldr Martin and (translated) " for Special Services to Flightinstructing" and then N.J. Schule, Schleissheim. I'm assuming N.J is Nacht Jagd?

It is engraved underneath with the date "den 6.11.42" and "Major u. Leiter d. Aush. Gruppe"

Any information would be very gratefully received!

Your grandfather died on 9.Mai 1943 he flew for the 3.NJG 101, unit who succeeded to the Nachtjagdschule , the plane, an Ar96B-1 Wn 4102 crashed for an unknown cause bei Schwaig he was Feldwebel and pilot , a second person as Bordmechaniker was killed also the Gefreiter fritz Wetzel

Small point: a "b" rather than an "h", so "Ausb. Gruppe" = Ausbildungs Gruppe = Training Wing.

Another small point, the Fritz Wetzel did not die this day, he was "only" wounded, and survived the war. He died in 1962.
