the Hamburg Standesamt death certificate of Wolf Rehwinkel dated 28 Nov 1939 confirms the unit but gives his death as 23 Oct 1939 ? Other docuemts from the time suggest he was aboard a Do17 with codes 4U+U (then maybe K) crash location possibly Nördl. Strasse Oberusel Schönberg 2200m Weste d. Kirche Oberursel 400 M Nördl. Punke 286 (1:100000)
The Ludwigsburg Standesamt 24 Nov 1939 also confirm the death of Fw Hermann Bender as 23 Oct 1939.
WASt records for Uffz Herman Schrebe confirm the year as 1939 and give aircraft Do17P 4U+UK

WASt records for Ltn Heinrich Sewing give the crash date as 23 Oct 1939 and the location as "im wald an der strasse Neuses-Geiselbach kreis Gelnhausen, nahe punkt 335" sorry the writing is very old German script and I struggle with the place names. It does confirm the aircraft as 4U+FK.

I have Uffz Willi Beeck not Beck ?

WASt have Uffz Xaver Langenmayr and his place of death as Neusass bei Frankfurt on 23 Oct 1939. His headstone at Wittislingen gives Franz Xaver Langenmayr.

Its not what you asked for but I hope it may help
Peter

In the GQM loss returns are listed:
23.10.39 2.(F)/123 Nördlich Straße Oberursel-Schönberg bei Frankfurt am Main, Baumberührung brennend abgestürzt, Do 17 P 100%, 3 † (Besatzung Lt Rehwinkel)
23.10.39 2.(F)/123 Geiselbach-Neuses, 3 km südlich Flugplatz Gelnhausen, Baumberührung brennend abgestürzt, Do 17 F 100%, 3 † (Besatzung Lt Sewing)

Re: 2.(F)/123 Losses 23.10.39

Guys,

Thanks for your efforts and additional information.

Peter - another typo, yes my sources give Beeck not Beck.

I had the basic info regarding the crashes and found additional crew names in two places -

1. A spreadsheet of Aufklgr. 123 losses kindly provided by Matti Salonen a number of years ago and does not include their crew positions.

and

2. RL10/875 2. (F) Staffel.- Einsatzbericht, 1. Sept. 1939 - 25. Mai 1941. This contains photos of the crew and confirms their names but not their crew positions.

Just trying to work out how to post the pages from RL10/875, will probably do so via Flickr.
