Lt. Hans Sieckenius 6/JG51 Hungary 1944
Dear all,
Lt. Hans Sieckenius (born 1925!) of 6./JG51 was KIA on 06.11.1944 in Lake Balaton area. My impression is that he and Lt. Kurt Hammer (also 6/JG 51) were the only two casualties of the day. Does anyone have detailed info on Lt. Sieckenius or the combat? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Giglio |

Re: Lt. Hans Sieckenius 6/JG51 Hungary 1944
Thanks Jim.
I found this in "Day Fighters in Defence of Reich" by Caldwell: 6 November 1944, 15th Air Force dispatches B-24s and B-17s, targets Vienna...escort 227 P-51s claims 4-2-1. Perhaps Andrew knows more specifics, since he's working on a II/JG51 book (which I really look forward to) ? |

The two pilots were shot down by P-51s in the Tapolza area, as you can read on the attached document, which is a wartime list found in Unteroffizier Mikoleit's photo album.

Merci M. Lorant, this is really helpful.
I was wondering if you have any photo of the said pilots from Mikoleit's album? Best regards Giglio |

Re: Lt. Hans Sieckenius 6/JG51 Hungary 1944
Hi Giglio
The pilots appearing on these photos mostly taken in Imely, Raab and Wezsprem are: Oblt Schneider, Lt Kühlein, Lt Ehses, Fj-Uffz Heinisch, Uffz Dahnert, Uffz Stadler, Uffz Mikoleit, Uffz Müller, Uffz Jacobi, Uffz Heidenreich, Uffz Klein and Uffz Blazejewicz. Some others are unknown to me, so far I can see they dont seems to be officers. So - there is no photos of Sieckenius and Hammer in this album. Sorry.
