Fw.Alois schnoll (8/JG2) 11/08/43
Can someone identify the claim of Alois Schnollne Douglas(14.42)
Is it a B-17 of RAF Coastal Command? According to Quadrat (5226/14 West) but I think that the Quadrat is wrong,it should be 15 West:between Plymouth and Brest Best Regards Michel |

Thanks Chris
His claim noted in Quadrat 5226/14 West (over the Channel) is falserobably a transcription error. Pleuven being located in the Quadrat 59--/14 West (MN),and so corresponds well to his claim. Happy new year Michel |

Re: Fw.Alois schnoll (8/JG2) 11/08/43
Hello Michel,
Pleuven is located in the Pl.Qu. 14 West/5826. The crash place is given in the German casualty report A.V. 261/43 from 3 Sep 1943 about the crash of a „Douglas DC“ on 11 Aug 1943 near Pleuves, 14 km SSE of Quimper, France and the four dead crewmembers. They were buried on 12 Aug 1943 in the Community Cemetery Pleuven. Fw Alois Schnöll was KIA on 22 Aug 1943 in his Fw 190 A-5 7332 near Quillebeuf. Regards Leo |
