Re: German Photo Album

Hello,

Currently on ebay is a further German photo album at:

https://www.ebay.de/itm/Altes-Fotoal...oAAOSwcidgAGnK

The quality is not particularly outstanding. However, the photo of Gotha G.IV (LVG) G.110/17 is nice.

Regards,

Clint

Re: German Photo Album

Thanks Clint for another incredible album.

The 'Essay" is Essey-et-Maizerais 12 kms western side of Pont-à-Mousson

What is the "Strantz" in flugpark von Strantz ?

TIA

Bertrand

Re: German Photo Album

Hello Bertrand,

Outside my comfort zone a little but I believe it was named after General Hermann von Strantz :

https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hermann_von_Strantz

It appears it was a Flugpark for Bavarian units, but given that I had not previously heard of the unit before seeing the photo album, I don't think I can add much. Hopefully someone else knows more than can be found on the net.

Regards,

Clint

Re: German Photo Album

Stig,

The beauty of ebay. It doesn't have to be... Still I hope Bertrand buys it.

A seperate question since you're viewing the album. In one photo there are a couple of Pfalz A.I A.46/15 and A.48/15 Ib elieve, though not 100 percent certain about the year or indeed whether the second machine is A.48. Anyway, to get finally to the point. I hadn't previously seen any A**/15numbers past A.30/15. However, Ionly have Jack Herris' original Pfalz book rather than its Aeronaut successor. Do you have the latter, if so anything on A.I serials beyond A.22/15 and A.25/15? If not the Pfalz photo in the album, if not necessarily worth the cost of the album on its own, is pleasing as the serials of the two machines was completely new to me. Presumably Bavrian machines with Prussianized/Reich serials applied.

Regards,

Clint

Re: German Photo Album

Ok,

Thanks anyway. Hopefully Josef will come up with something or dare I hope some other reader of this?

Currently the serials appear to run:

A.22/15 Fokker A.II FFA 32
A.23/15 ???
A.24/15 ???
A.25/15 Pfalz A.I AFA 207
A26/15 thru A.29/15 Nothing
A.30/15 Pfalz A.I
A.31/15 thru A.45/15 Nothing

A.46/15 Pfalz A.I

So lots of machines awaiting discovery unless the Aeronaut Pfalz book has more.

Regards,

Clint
