Boleslaw GLADYCH (P.1382)

Hello,

does anyone know the exact day of each promotion of Boleslaw GLADYCH up to the highest rank?

Thank you in advance for any information.

Regards, Zdenek Kocab

It seems to me that nobody has answered your question because there is too much speculation concerning his claims to rank.
As far as I can see, his last mission with 302 squadron (PAF) was on 3rd January 1944 in Spitfire MH996, where he is listed as a Flight Lieutenant. Somehow, between that date and his first mission with 61FS, 56FG on 8th February, he seems to have promoted himself to Squadron Leader, thereby claiming the rank of Major in the USAAF. Looks as though you will have to find out how that could happen, as he was with the AAF in an unofficial capacity, and I cant see him being promoted officially, particularly as Lanowski retained his Flight Lieutenant (Captain) status and he was senior to Gladych anyway.

Re: Boleslaw GLADYCH (P.1382)

In USAF Study #85, they have Gladych as a F/Lt. for claims made between February 21, 1944 and June 7, 1944, then as SL for claims between July 5 and September 21, 1944. The 8th Air Force Victory Credits Board has him as a Captain for the February-June claims and then as a Major for July-September.

Re: Boleslaw GLADYCH (P.1382)

I forgot to add the following from his combat reports (on the 56th Fighter Group website). On February 21 and March 27 he signed the reports as Captain, P.A.F. and on September 21 it was Major, P.A.F. Can't help with how he got the ranks or when, etc.
