Seeking photos of RAF 3 SQ Hurricanes down during the WC/FC of May-June 1940
Hello,
Here at the EoE Working Group (WG), where trying to put together all the data and loss photos for 3 SQ's Hurricanes downed during May, 1940 in either France or Belgium. Some of these will be the subjects of color profiles. So far, we've got good imagery and identifications for QOoP and QOoT, but know that there has to be photos out there of other losses which came down relatively intact. Of course, one of the big problems with Hurricanes is that codes and SN were rapidly souvenired from them if they sat in the field for long, but at least photographers got to the two listed above before they fully suffered that fate. Anything with a "QO" SQ code, even a partial, would be most appreciated. Can anybody help? Regards, Larry Hickey EoE Project Coordinator |

Somewhere, I am sure, I have a photo of Frank Carey's Hurricane that he crashed or forced-landed. The photo is pre-incident, though.

Re: Seeking photos of RAF 3 SQ Hurricanes down during the WC/FC of May-June 1940
Hello,
Related to 3 SQ losses, we think that we've recently identified photos of the 13 May FL of 3 SQ Hurricane, L1901, of Flight Officer Albert Ransome Ball badly WIA in the leg-PoW & DoW 4 June, 1940. His FL in open farm fields with no distinctive landmarks was the result of air combat in the area between Louvain (Louven) and Wavre, Belgium. These two locations are some distance apart. Can anyone pinpoint the actual point where FO Ball set down more precisely than the above? He may have been in combat in an area between those two towns, but this doesn't mean that that is where he eventually force-landed. Any help would be appreciated.
