Dornier at Castel Benito

Hi,
Amongst the wrecked aircraft at Castel Benito airfield in 1943 was a Do 17 Z-2 coded 3U + FU of 10./ZG 26.

Does anybody know what function this aircraft served in ZG 26 in North Africa?
Was it for communications or courier duties or something else?

Thanks,
Doug

Generally convoy escort. It was soon replaced by Ju 88Cs, some of which were left behind by I./NJG 2 when they returned to NW Europe mid-1942

Re: Dornier at Castel Benito

I think the a/c individual letter is actually 'E' (as seen on the wing bottom). Part of fuselage letter is obscured by an object in front.
