Re: 32 GIAP history book vol.1
Servus!
Audrius or anyone who knows. The 32 GvIAP seems to have been based at Kubinka post war flying with MiG-21. Was it this unit who was visited few times by the Finnish Air Force 31th squadron (Hävittäjälentolaivue 31) which also flew MiG-21? Soviet MiG-21s (and later -23 and -29) visited also Finland. Are these visits mentioned in the book? Regards, Kari |

Looks great, indeed hopefully we'll see an English translation (or German, or French even).

Re: 32 GIAP history book vol.1
Hello,
please find the author's summary of the book. The 2nd vol. will cover the period of 1967 -89 when the regiment was disassembled. Will describe the introduction of Mig-23C in VSS 'cause 32GIAP was the first to recieve those a/c. Participation in Afganistan and finally (unfortunately) the disassemble of regiment.

Re: 32 GIAP history book vol.1
I noticed that this main unit claimed 518 enemy aircraft during the war, while reportedly losing only 95 aircraft in combat. This is a claim ratio of over 5:1. Is this a reasonable figure (comparable to other VVS Guards fighter divisions' achievements)?

I thik this is not far from figures of other high scoring units (e.g. : 735 for 89 pilots, or 697 for 84 pilots,...)... Hope this can help, Kolya. |
