John Beaman is an unknown quantity at this point
file extension

Like Norbert, I was able to download the file, but then was directed through a series of sites looking for the .rar extension, then the .part extension. I came to one that said it was free and then was ready to download this utility with a .exe extension. As a matter of policy I do not download such unknowns that have .exe extension, so I still do not know what to do with this file.

Premiumshare, you don't have to have a premium account, just wait the 45 sec and the file will be ready for download.

the .rar extension is just like a .zip, compressed. You do need to download the .exe program to use it. I use it and have no problems with it apar from that I have passed my trailperiod with 1276 days!!!!

Details

Here's how to do it:

1) Download the file (it's a huge .rar archive)
2) Go to www.download.com
3) Search for "rar". The 5th entry in the results will be WinRAR 3.42 -- download and install the application.
4) Open the .rar file with WinRAR. It'll display the password, which is "www.farpost.narod.ru"
5) Click "Extract To" and enter the password when prompted.
6) You can now view the extracted .pdf file using Acrobat Reader.

The file is a good quality scan of a Russian publication about captured German and Japanese aircraft. I have the original book and the photo quality is excellent, which is unusual for Russian publications. There are two additional volumes which cover the 1941-42 Moscow air campaign, and another about the Soviet air force in 1941.
