Another LW machine claimed by the SAS - Aout 1944

Hello.

Another claim from the book about the French SAS I just finished reading was (quoting in French):
"Un ultimatum est dressé à la garnison d'EGLETONS, composé d'environ 300 SS et de quelques unités auxiliares. Les allemands le rejettent. Le 14 Aout 1944, les parachutistes SAS encerclent l'Ecole Normale, centre de résistance principale de l'ennemi. La Luftwaffe vient appuyer la garnison assiégée. Chansel et Rudwasser (OBS: Guess those were French SAS) abattent un Heinkel He 111, bombardier bimoteur."

On the 17th August 1944, a Mosquito Squadron bombarded EGLESTON...was it 305 or 107 Squadron?

Do we have the Heinkel 111 loss recorded on the 14 Aout 1944?? From which unit was it? It seems it was shot down by the SAS from the ground...Any details about the He 111 most welcomed

Adriano B.

For more about the Battle of Égletons, see here: http://www.ghostbombers.com/Bongart/GB_19.html

And a downloadable booklet (in French) here: https://s4d09818f02ced15a.jimcontent...- egletons.pdf

I didn't know of any Bongart aircraft being shot down in this action but I have found a reference to an attacking aircraft being brought down by machine gun fire, killing "the two pilots" so I'll follow this up.
