Collision of Dornier Do 17 with 2 Bf 109's

Hi,

Does anyone have more information about the collision of a Dornier Do 17 of AufklGr 123 with 2 Bf 109's in june 1940, probably at the Auxerre airfield?

Thanks in advance,
Rudi.

Rudi,

“JUNE 16, 1940: 2.(F)/123 Dornier Do17P. Collided with Bf109s of I./JG27 in emergency landing during strafing by D520s of GC III/3 at Auxerre airfield 3.00 p.m. No crew casualties. Aircraft 4U+EK a write-off.” This was W.Nr.5294.

One of the Bf109Es was W1+ of 1./JG27, the a/c of Oblt Wolfgang Redlich, Sta Kap., displaying three white victory tabs on the rudder and a diagonal white band on the rear fuselage.

Rudi,

You will find a photo of these two a/c page 16 of Avions Hors-série n°25
Les As Français de 1939-1940 (Volume 2) by Alain Coste & Christophe Cony.

@Jim: What is your source for the WNr. for the "white 1" please?

Falcon,

The source of the W.Nr. on "White 1" is a close up photo of the fin showing the W.Nr., 5294, and the three victory tabs with dates and incident details. This a/c, piloted by 1./JG27 Sta Kap Oblt Wolfgang Redlich, is one of our EoE Profile a/c.
