Re: Crash locations of P-47,16/06/44

There are hand drawn maps/overlays in all of the MACRs.

MACR 6057 for Schallehn also gives co-ordinates. According to the map, the pilot was down at vY7477 (French Lambert Zone 1), while the plane crashed at vY6980.

Salmi was "last seen" just south of St Lo. The included map, very crudely drawn, seems to indicate a location near/around Le Pont de Gourfaleur.

Martin was last seen at Colombelles, France.

Smith is shown on a map to have bailed at little west of Carpiquet. No indication of where the planes actually crashed in these last three MACRs.

Michel
Bishop and Hey give the following:

Smith - slightly South of Caen
Martin - Northeast of Caen
Salmi - due South of St. Lo
Schallehn - La Bernucherie at Olsseau, 5 miles Northwest of Mayenne

Regards
Nick
