B-24 41-28706
Can anyone supply me details on the loss of the above B-24 of 458 BG on 6 May 44? Apparently it crashed trying to land at RAF Odiham with the loss of 4 crew; pilot was said to be a 2/Lt E R Thompson

Re: B-24 41-28706
Hi Paul
I've just had a peek at 458BG's Roll of Honor and notice that B-24 42-52348 was believed lost to friendly fire on 20/9/44 over Truckin, and that the crew were FOD. Pardon my ignorance, but where is Truckin? What does FOD mean? And what type of friendly fire? Possibly you can't answer these queries but I hope someone can enlighten me. Thanks Brian |

FOD - Finding of Death (Used where someone was missing and presumed killed in action)
Truckin is I assuming Trucking as in Transportation mission - But this is just a guess... |
