Information concerning loss of Ob. Gefr. Alfred Maeyer - 12.07.1944

Hi,

Can anyone provide details over the loss of Ob. Gefr. Alfred Meyer who was killed on the 12th July 1944. I cannot provide any other details as his sterbebild has a lovely clear picture of him but the writing is obscured.

Thanks for all your efforts - as always

Rick

Just a note to a discrepancy in the location - reported as "5km nordöstlich Torques" per Jan Horn who has written a 2-volume history of KG 6.

The Horn book shows the loss of this aircraft as following Luftkampf, the book MoquitoPanik shows a claim for a Ju88 on 12/13th.July by F/O Barbour with F/O Paine of 264Sqd over the Seine Estuary. Is anymore known which might indicate a link,

Distances are always a problem. We should know, which is the reference point in a city or town. Also length of "km" seems not to be always same, especially, when round figures were used. Maybe Jan's "5 km" is better expression, because it offers (mathematically) +/- 1 km error margin.

I have no particular knowledge of the geography of France, so, with previous differences noted, my question is - Touques vs. Torques - both may well be valid, I have no idea.
