Question Sqn.Ldr. JJ 'Chris' Le Roux - a/c code?

Does any one have a record of the aircraft codes for Le Roux when he was leading No. 602 Sqn. over Normandy. According to Shores he flew MK775 on 15th July and MJ884 on the 16th. 602 Sqn.'s code was LO, but I can't find any record of either aircraft's code letter.

Question Re: Sqn.Ldr. JJ 'Chris' Le Roux - a/c code?

Hi Gilgean,

Thanks for the reply, but not an answer!

I already had the aircraft serials for Le Roux's Spitfires, but I need to know the aircraft's code letter. I have subsequently found a photo of Le Roux in his Spitfire, in the first edition of Shores and Thomas' "2nd Tactical Air Force" book, and it shows that one of his aircraft bore the name "Betty", but the code letter is not visible. It's not "B" because that was Ken Charney's aircraft at that time (ML239) and "D" is the subject of the decals in the Italeri kit (MH526).

MJ584 was 'LO-A'. Photo and profile in Vol4 of '2ndTAF', due out February.

Thanks very much Chris,

Sounds like I'd better put my model on hold until February!
