Avro Lancaster JB659.
Looking at this video,http://video.google.co.uk/videoplay?...70404705354795
does anyone know of an actual photo of JB659 OF-J? Did it have an H2S dome? |

Re: Avro Lancaster JB659.
Hello,
If the Lancaster in the film is indeed JB659 then for most of the film it does show a Dome. Alex |

Re: Avro Lancaster JB659.
Hi all,
Thanks for watching the video. To answer your question, JB659 does not appear in the video. The footage in the video is from Night Bombers by Iliffe Couzens (from a squadron based in Lincolnshire at Ludford Magna), and also from DD Videos Greates Combat Aircraft collection. JB659 was a MkIII, and so I believe it would have had an H2S radome. There are no pictures of wartime JB659 that I am aware of. There are pictures of an OF-J Lancaster from 97 Squadron, such as the one on this page from Jennie Gray http://www.firebynight.co.uk/website%20menu.html , but as you can see the tail number is not JB659. A radome is visible in this photo however. The aircraft in this link is JB227, which is part of the same production run as JB659. I hope that helps. Best Regards (and a 'hello' to the forum) Hanglands. |
