7 June 1945 Japanese fighters absent?
Despite a force of 400 B-29s bombing Osaka I note that only one Japanese aircraft was shot down by escort fighters. Were no major Japanese attacks launched?

Re: 7 June 1945 Japanese fighters absent?
Keith. According to the B-29 Chronology 10 e/a were sighted and made 30 attacks; Flak was heavy but inaccurate.
VII FC noted claims as 2-0-1, a P-47N (73FS) was lost on this mission. 5 B-29s lost, 42-93996 (19BG), 42-24834 (504th), 42-24583 ( 497th), 44-69967 (19th), 44-69919 (504th). Regards Nick |
