Re: LW Ukrainian volunteer unit?

The author of the book linked to is a less than reliable source for any historical information.

I unfortunately bought his first military history attempt , Mussolini’s War and found it riddled with errors and quite slanted in its approach. While I was interested in the subject of the Air forces book, the Mussolini work made me steer clear of anything he’s written since.

............and then there are the hundreds and hundreds of colonies established by German Catholics, Lutherans, Mennonites, Evangelicals and other German religious minorities and sects in South Ukraine, e.g., Moldovia, Bessarabia, Odessa Province, Nikolayev Province, Cherson District, Crimea, Melitopol District, North Caucasia and along the Volga beginning in the late 1700's. If the location already existed as a village or hamlet, the Ukrainian name was changed to a German name. If the location was new, it was immediately given a German name, often the name of the hometown in Germany of one of the founding colonists.

Now here is the oddity: the Wehrmacht Heereskarten used by all branches during the war retained the local place names given by the colonists and never deviated from this. So we read in the wartime campaign documents and literature that the Panzers were advancing toward Karlsruhe from Katherinental (17.75 km west of the Bug River and 45 km NW of Nikolayev), we are kind of at a loss without specialized gazetteers and maps.

Frank Joseph is the same person as Frank Collin. To hide his past, he has been using his first and middle name as a pen name.

From the Wiki article I originally posted:

is listed the Mussolini book I mentioned, Mussolini's War

The Amazon page for Axis Air Forces states this:
Quote:
Frank Joseph is professor of world archaeology with Japan's Savant Institute, and recipient of the Midwest Epigraphic Society's Victor Moseley Award. His published works include more than 20 books in as many foreign editions, such as Mussolini's War: Fascist Italy's Military Struggles from Africa and Western Europe to the Mediterranean and Soviet Union 1935–45.

Frank Collin, former president of the National Socialist Party of America among other things is the same person as Frank Joseph, new age author and military author.
And from reading Mussolini's War, I can only conclude his political views haven't changed much from his time as NS president.
