R.A.F. Officers awarded the Silver Star.
I am interested in why two Royal Air Force Officers were awarded the American Silver Star in May 1945.
They are Wing Commander Douglas David Haig, D.S.O. D.F.C. (and bar,) and Wing Commander George Godfrey Petty, D.S.O. D.F.C. Any help will be appreciated. D.
