well, the serial # is presumably P8xxx and it looks like the second letter is a "V" so it presumably could be QV for 19 Sq? THe pilot looks like he probably survived to become a POW.

Taken from Derek Palmer's book " Fighter Squadron" Spitfire IIa Sept40- Nov 41 Serial start "P" 8017;8032;8077;8164;8166;8171;8204;8241;8243;8251; 8255;8270;8277;8366;8384;8432;8442;8460;8583;8659; 8667;8679;8729. Spitfire VB Oct 41-Aug 43 Serial start "P" 8561;8715 Then again it may be a "9" and not an "8" ? 28/8/41 P8439 F/Lt W.Cunningham DFC - POW c/l on Dutch beach (FCL vol 1). Alex |
