Re: eBAy: Captured german planes

3rd, 4th and 5th Bf109s pictures were in a photo album auction few weeks ago.
The Emil picture is a new one, at least for me.
As for the Spit. Well, it's a Spit.

Re: eBAy: Captured german planes

Thanks Marc.

One funny point, at least for me; in his description the seller writes "wrecks captured in the Western Desert of Libya in 1942..".
"Western Desert" does indicate a part of Egypt, not Libya, and, formally, it's the part of Egypt situated West of Nile (left on the map) as described in antic texts and by archeologists.... Indeed very Eastern part of Libya is situated in what we use to call "Western Desert" area.
What seller wrote is, thence, a non sense.

Regards,
Franck.

Re: eBAy: Captured german planes

Regarding # 1109:

The He 111 is from KG 100 with Verbandskennzeichen 6N+KZ, captured at Cagliari/Elmas airdrome (source: ADI(K) Med).

It was damaged 23rd June 1942, shot up over Sidi Barani, with two men wounded from the Lt.Stange crew. At that time it was coded like 6N+KJ (source: Ulf Balke KG 100 chronicle).
