von Boremski

Hello,

Hptm. Eberhard von Boremski said at the III. / EJG 1 in the years 1944 to 1945 he shot down 16 aircraft.

Does anyone know more??

Re: von Boremski

Hi Marek

Not impossible, but probably none in 1944, so 1945 only! Hard to say where this information came, I think he died a few years before Obermeier's Ritterkreuz first book. As he survived the war, there is always the possibility that his tagbuch survived, trouble is that so many were stolen my the Americans and I don't know if he was/or with who he was taken prisoner, his tagbuch if it survived would be an interesting read.

Regards

Johannes

P.S I have eighty-eight confirmed, and two unconfirmed for him between 29th May 1940 and 24th April 1943, as far as I can tell by looking at his claims(rather than enemy losses) he looks like a honest claimer.

Re: von Boremski

Hi Marek

Not a single claim for EJG1 exists on the micro films. Only hope is the KBT papers, the ones I have have thirty-one claims for EJG1(of which ten are without wittness), but they only give date/time/type of aircraft, which would suggest these were all low scoring pilots as usually high scorers are mentioned, in fact the only two that do have names are for Gerhard Hoffmann, also mentions they are his 128th and 129th victories on 7th March 1945 1206 and 1215 hrs. I think and hope it's only a small selection, apart from that his tagbuch may be your only hope, ask on TOCH about possible KBT mentions.

Regards

Johannes

Re: von Boremski

Good morning,

it's been 8 years ago since Marek asked this interesting question.
Has new knowledge come to light about Boremski's EJG1 victories or is it known if any other pilot has scored five or more kills in that unit ?

Have a nice weekend,

Michael

Re: von Boremski

Von Boremski and my uncle had a long relationship, going back to their days together in 9.JG3. They were also both instructors at Ergaenzungsgruppe-Sued, and both ended the war in EJG1. I have my uncle's Flugbuch for EJG1 and it is difficult to ascertain his actual position in the unit. What is clear is that the unit was still flying many sorties until well into April, some utilising the two-seater 109's.

Re: von Boremski

That's interesting. Do you deem it possible that Boremski scored 16 kills in that unit ?
