From Balke's history of KG 2: Night of 26/27 Jun 42. Do 217 E-4, 4266, U5+ML, shot down in the area of Norfolk by F/O Moody of 151 Sqdn. RAF. MIA: FF Fw Hans Schroeder, BO Fw Hilmar Heinel, BF Uffz Heinrich Hilkenbach, BS Uffz Walter Wegener. This was a 60-aircraft attack on Norwich. Good lighting conditions and pathfinder illumination resulted in a concentrated attack on the target. Dropped: 29 tonnes of HE bombs and 76 containers of fire bombs.

No. During the afternoon of the 27th, I, II, III/KG 2, and II/KG 40 were moving to launching fields for a retaliation attack that night for the 1,000 bomber raid on Bremen on 25/25 June. The raid was to be launched against Weston-super-Mare, and the first a/c took off at 23:45 -- 13 a/c of I/KG 2. Altogether, 53 bombers attacked. 2 Ist Gruppe Do 217s were damaged at Evreux due to technical problems.
