The problem with Normandy is the NVMs are many and have few details. The intelligence reports can be the best source but again with so much going on, not all crashes were investigated. A type, name or unit might help as like Matti I have all the NVMs for this period. For example, the only reports I have 28-29 July 1944 which mention locations are a Ju 88 S-3 of 4./KG 30 at Foret de Cerisy, a Ju 88 A-4 of 1./KG 54 4 miles SE St Lo, a Do 217 of 1./KG 2 NE St Lo, a Ju 88 S-3 of 6./KG 30 NE St Lo, another one 1 mile east of Lison, another south of St Lo and a Ju 88 A-4 of 7./KG 54 at Le Vey

Aircraft types for Luftwaffe bomber losses , Normandy 1944 ?

Why not mention the aircraft types involved? Are they unknown too?

Hi Zorglub,

A possible candidate for 5/6 July 1944.

From Jan Horn, Der Flurschaden-Geschwader ..., (2010), p. 49:

best regards,

Jim

Re: Luftwaffe bomber losses , Normandy 1944

Hi ,
These came from the french gendarmerie reports . So no type of aircraft , only date and fate of crew when known .
However thanks for your interest .
I wonder about crews of 5 : either He111 or He177 ?

They were used for supply drops but also for V-1 launches against Portsmouth and Southampton.
