Unknown airmen buried Dieppe
Hello ,
In Dieppe CWGC cemetary there are two graves side by side of two unknown airmen lost April 21 , 1943. I can't link them to a loss in that area , and cannot find such one on RAF Fighter or Bomber Command Losses. Any idea ( coastal command ... ) ? Thank you, Zorglub |

Re: Unknown airmen buried Dieppe
Hello Zorglub,
I think these airmen actually washed ashore on the same date. In the cases of unidentified washed ashore airmen the date of finding was used as date of death on the stones. That's perhaps why you cannot find a matching loss. These airmen at Dieppe cemetery (not necesseraly from the same crew) may have crashed into the sea weeks or months before April 21st 1943... Just my thoughts, Hans Nauta |
