Re: B24 crew ID???

Did you try to post the plane photo also? These types of photos are often taken stateside, when the crew completes Combat Crew Training. Thus the plane shown is often a stateside training plane not a plane they flew in a bomb group.

Just looking at the names, they seem to have been assigned to the 451st BG. (Website:451st.org) Most of the names appear on the roster here:

http://451st.org/PDFs/451st%20Personnel%20Roster.pdf

(note: "J J Weist" shows as "Jetson J Wiest", Flanery seems to be missing in the roster. D.D. McCabe is Donald D McCabe. The photo would be of the McCabe Crew. Too bad we don't know "Cookie's" full name.)

McCabe's name appears in several flimsies such as here (1st page, 1st col for the 2nd attack group) flying 256 possibly (41-29256). His name shows again on the 2nd page flying 255 ( typo?) then later 256 again, etc. You can dig through the flimsies and see what comes up.

http://451st.org/Missions/Mission%20...20Flimsies.pdf

41-29256, "Sakinshack" appears here:
http://www.b24bestweb.com/sakinshack1.htm
http://www.b24bestweb.com/sakinshack2.htm
http://www.b24bestweb.com/sakinshack3.htm

(Interesting that the 3rd photo above "seems" to show some artwork with the name "Flanery" at the navigator's position).

Individual planes were often flown by many different crews and any particular crew typically flew several different planes.

Plane numbers for the 451st are here: http://451st.org/Aircraft/pdfs/451st...f%20181213.pdf
(Note: only one plane's number ends in "256" (41-29256, "Sakinshack") and no plane's number ends in "255")

You can dig around the 451st site using Google site search on the various names, for example, this Google search:

site:451st.org McCabe

shows locations were the name McCabe appears. You may end up having to read through several pages to find where the name shows up as the individual pages, particularly the pdf pages, may not be fully "indexed". So doing a "Find" on that page for McCabe may not work.

You can also sometimes find the men on findagrave, such as:

https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/...onald-d-mccabe

https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/...-b-olszanowski

Re: B24 crew ID???

A little more information on Donald D McCabe, who was from El Paso, TX and the plane Sakinshack.

McCabe is commissioned: https://www.newspapers.com/clip/28896097/el_paso_times/

McCabe is in Italy and his plane is “Sakinshack”:
Part 1: https://www.newspapers.com/clip/28896190/el_paso_times/
Part 2: https://www.newspapers.com/clip/28896292/el_paso_times/

Sakinshack, 41-29256 was one of the original planes in the 451st BG. It was flown to Europe by Robert L James and was originally assigned to the James Crew. The 451st began flying missions at the end of January, 1944. At the end of March or early April the James Crew was assigned a new plane which they named “Jesse James” and Sakinshack was assigned to the newly arrived McCabe replacement crew. A member of the James crew, Harry F Fryar has written about these times. Note that Fryar is in the 2nd picture of Sakinshack linked in the previous post.
