Fact found:

Messerschmitt never remade the E-7 to a two-digit version.
So Beutin died in the standard single-seat version of E-7.

The cause of the crash was a technical fault, but I don't know exactly what.

He probably flew the aircraft after repair, or for a separate flight for the pupil.
