Bf109E-1 (E-3??), "Weisse 9", 1./JG 51 New picture on eBay

Hi Gents,

This picture http://www.ebay.de/itm/2WK-Altes-Fot...item27ca39eee6
All ready given by Ed West list that week.

Dr. Prien did start a thread on LEMB forum about whether it's an E-1 or an E-3 (Typo on LW lost list?), and gave us a place and time took from an old auction caption. Thank's for that Jochen.
Note that that very plane start to be very well depicted; I have 7 different photos of it (couting that last one).

Concerning that E-1/E-3 identification and the question raised by Jochen; My answer is YES.
- There is no MGFF in removable fairing (different pictures of same plane where fairing isn't removed)
- Top wing is stained by MG shots.
- This is not the only plane presenting such characteristics (with many pictures too).
- For some of other planes with same feature, WNr. is known.
- David Weiss aka "Falcon" did already raise this aspect in his site (underpicture comments) but less clearly than Dr. Prien does now... And if I remember well I had small mail discussions with David upon this type identification problem.

Whether is WNr.2666 or not ( hence a true typo from LW lost list) I'm not able to decide.

Dr. Prien suggestion (small Arado production) is quite interesting and give us another aspect to check out.

Regards, Franck.

Good Clint,

Like that TOCH members will have a clearer idea of what Dr. Prien wrote. Better like that.
And more probably there are more answers I didn't get ... yet!

Regards, Franck.
