Rüdiger,

I have no details about the circumstances of this P-51 loss, but 2nd Alfred Fontes (O-808645) was neither KIA or MIA.

He was POW at Stalag Luft 1, according to the online NARA database.

Lt Fontes was from Providence, Rhode Island, was born in 1922 and enlisted on 30 March 1942.
Apparently involved in a belly landing at Hamilton Field, CA, on 28 July 1943 in P-39Q 42-19886.

Regards,

Leendert

Rüdiger & Leendert !

I looked into my LGK daily catalogue. But unfortunately, there is no way to view the a/c's fate by footnote neither as USAAF-s/n 43-6689 nor as MACR 3632.

If MACR # 3632 would match up with one of the various J- and KU-reports compiled that day, it would be easier.

Leendert is right with his statement. There are no traces, that Lt. Fontes was KIA or MIA according my files.

All the best !

MACR 3632 falls in a block of about 200 MACRs that were never scanned or uploaded to the footnote.com website. I have complained about this several times but have never received a response.

Frank.
