Lw Ground Crew Entries - Help please

Hello Gents,
I’ve just joined the forum, my hobby is researching Wehrpasses & Soldbuches. Usually my biggest headache is researching Luftwaffe ground personal units. I use both Lexikon der Wehrmacht & The Luftwaffe both excellent sites, but a little thin on ground personal units. I hope members can help me on this one – I’ve hit the buffers, any information welcome – here goes - This Unit –
9.6.1940 – 27.6.1944 Wetter beobachtungs zur Zala /Mot / 52 I know they were in West France but where?
26.6.44 – 28.11.44 – Wz (MOT) 1602 – any information –
Battle Calendar entry Nov 1942 – Used in occupied district within the area of 218.3 – any ideas on area 218.3

Best Wishes

Wetterberatungszentrale d.Lw. 52/WF (mot) was located at Montpellier in South France on 18.04.44.

Wetterberatungszentrale d.Lw. 1602 was assigned Feldpostnummer L 61690 on 05.01.45. No further information.

I recommend you contact the Deutscher Wetterdienst in Offenbach ( http://www.dwd.de/ ) and ask them. There were many hundreds of these tiny Luftwaffe weather units (6 to 8 guys and 1 or 2 trucks) and they cannot be traced in the surving Luftwaffe records. But whatever you do, do not tell them you are a "collector" or they probably will not help you.

Larry

Hi Larry,
Thanks for the posting, I suspected it would be difficult to get a lot of concrete information on these obscure small units. Any information on area 218,3 ? Thanks again.
