Walter Beaumont 152 Squadron driving to see Josef Brocker's Me109 1940.,

Hiya all,

Somewhere there is a mention that Walter Beaumont, 152 Squadron visited his victims aircraft, jumpin in his car and driving down once he landed. This was Josef Brocker's Me109 JG53.

Chris did a great section in one of his books.

Can anyone give this little part of the story?

Cheers

Danny

This came from the late Michael Payne who researched the crash many years ago. By the way it is Josef Broeker not Brocker

What chance he took a Box Brownie with him and a snapshot of the wreck survives somewhere ? I'm ever hopeful. BEAUMONT recorded that the 109 also came under attack by two Hurricanes prior to landing. These were BEAMONT of No.87 Squadron and LLEWELLYN of No.213 Squadron.

Thanks Chris, Peter....

Noted the name....So it was Beaumont that took the pics then, I have a copy of this picture. So the bit him travelling in the car is true and is there a good description of this happening anywhere? I know this minor detail but hey its all important....lol

Thanks

I have never seen a photo of Josef's crash neither has Peter so interested to know what photo you write about?

'Interested' falls somewhat short of my actual feelings on the subject of a possible photo of this crash.

I am interested in this story because p.o Beaumont's son Michael is my ex brother-in-law, when my ex wife and I used to visit his mother, p.o Beaumonts wife Doris, she had a shelf over a radiator in the hall on which was a German aircraft compass and I was told that Walter removed it from an aircraft that he had brought down

This is a story that I heard from his wife (my ex mother-in-law) but I also read that on landing Broeker destoyed his plane by setting it on fire

After Walters wife (my ex mother-in-law) died, she passed Walters DFC onto her daughter
