Bf109E-7 WNr.1326

The belly-landed Bf 109E-7 with many Abschussbalken belonged to Erbo, Graf von Kaganek (9./JG 27). 20.August 1941, near Tschudowo. Observe the decorative yellow triangles on the spinner.

Re: Bf 109 photos

Thanks as usual Marc for the great photos, but I think you put up the wrong link for:

GRM,

Many thanks, Graf von Kaganek, glad to know it was his kite!

Rob,

Thanks for your praise and for flagging this glitch; here is the correct link:

Very interesting! Why is this a/c standing so close to the sea (or even in the water)?

The first of these two pics shows an a/c of III./JG 2. The second is from JG 53. Notice the two different yellows on the nose and the unusual light (RLM 76) mottle.

Because I'd believe the "sea" is snow on the airfield and not sand ...

Re: Bf 109 photos

I guess you're right (I only looked at the smaller pic, the larger pic shows some signs of mud or so to the right of the a/c). Well, somehow it doesn't look "typical", considering that the winter 1939/40 was very very cold (but maybe it was taken in early spring).

Thanks for the post!

It's really great that you took the time to write down captions and versions like that, really helpful! Specially when sitting by my wife's steampowered laptop that will stutter to a halt if I try to open too many links...
