I am looking for info on the identity of the light Flak units that shot down 617 Squadron Lancasters ED910 (in Boselagerschen Forest near Heessen, NNE of Hamm at 02.35 hrs) and ED937 (at Netterden near Emmerich at 02.36 hrs) during the 16-17 May 1943 Dams Raid, who can help?

3 x 2cm Flakgeschützen am Industriehafen
3 x 2cm Flakgeschützen in der Ward
3 x 2 cm Flakgeschützen am Nierenberger strasse
3 x 2 cm Flakgeschützen am Hafenkopf
"Das flugzeug drehte ab und schoss aus dem Heck auf die stellung an der Schleusse. Dan schossen alle 12 Geschütze auf die machine die aus dem motor heraus brannte"

Many thanks for these useful details -do you also have the identity of the Heimatflak Abteilung to which these 12 2 cm batteries belonged that were credited with the shooting down of ED937?

Hi Theo

The book "Dambusters - Operation Chastise 1943" written by Douglas C. Dildy identifies the unit as "Heimat-Flakabteilung Emmerich" that was credited with the destruction of Lancaster ED937.

According to the same book the Lancaster ED910 was shot down by "Flakgruppe Dortmund", by guns of Flak-Regiment 124 assisted by Flakscheinwerfer-Regiment 146.
