Is there a website to find out a service man's name/unit from service number?

I am intrigued by the following and would like to try and find out if the service number matches any airmen who served?
I have no idea if this is a US, UK service number (or other) but believe they would have served in Italy.
The image attached is all I know... any help appreciated, thanks, Neil.

According to the NARA Enlistment Records the number belongs to Richard J. Anderson who enlisted on 10 March 1941. He was from Wisconsin.
