Hi there,

Good spotting, Franck; both photos do depict indeed Mtt built Bf 109 G-14/AS W.Nr. 786 316 "Weisse 4", 1./JG ?, Kassel, May 1945.

Cheers

Re: eBAy: Captured german planes

Hello, Nice photos but Manfred Dieterle never flew "Green 5".
Cheers, Jerry

Thanks Jerry. This raises a question in my mind: this machine was published in Jet&Prop 3/2003, p. 21, associating it - if not mistaken - with Oblt. Dieterle. From then on, it was widely accepted for evidence, as illustrated in Neil Page's blog here: http://falkeeins.blogspot.com/search...109%20G-6%2FAS or on my own flickr pages for that matter.

Could you be more precise why we can discard Oblt. Dieterle as having no connection to "Grüne 5" ?

Thanks in advance
Marc

Re: eBAy: Captured german planes

Hello Marc, Yes, I remember that article but the photo with the someone in or on the a/c but that was not Dieterle. During one of our several interviews with him we discussed his time with 2./ EJG2 , in fact he had the original emblem of this unit in his den. He gave us a copy of his Flugbuch and there is no "Green 5". He did fly "Green 14" twice but his last a/c was "Red 2" and that was at Schleswig.
Hope this helps, Jerry
