Shot in the dark: info on pilot Lt Erich Simon

Stumbled upon this site researching my family. I don't have much to go on and have found a little about 1 crash in England where he bailed out and survived but trying to find out more on his military career if possible. Thank you for your time.

You have struck lucky. I not only knew & met him, I can tell you all about him if the same. He was with Stab/KG 4 & shot down by Flt Lt 'Sailor' Malan of 74 Sqn 0030 hrs 19 June 1940 just outside Chelmsford. He was the only survivor of his crew of 4. PM me & I can tell you loads more about him & his brother who was a night fighter pilot

If you look on this site chelmsfordwarmemorial.co.uk and scroll down the names in the first two columns on the left for Corpus , Gross and Vick there are details of the crewmen who were killed , plus crash details.

I have been able to find a good bit on the crash from June 1940 but that is all. From what I was told by family was that he was shot down twice, once over Africa as well and survived again. I found his name in another story about being shot over Africa but it then lists him as KIA so I don't believe that was him. Just trying to learn anything I can past what was easy to dig up on Google
