Victory List for II./ZG26 during the French Campaign

Hello,

I just posted my "wants list" for I./ZG26 for the FC, and now I'm doing the same for II./ZG 26. I have no information on 6./ZG 26, so anything on that unit would be welcome. I addition, I know that 5 Staffel pilots claimed three victories on 15.5.40, but I don't know the pilot's names, the aircraft types claimed or the locations. I'm looking for the aircraft types claimed by Obfw. Kurt Rochel of 5 Staffel on 14.5.40 and 1.6.40, and the same thing for 5 Staffel pilot Fw. Hans Müller on 18.5.40.

I know that the following Stab and 4th Staffel pilots made claims during the May-June, 1940 period, but I have no dates, types or locations: Hptm. Ralph von Rettberg, Gr Kdr, and 4th St pilots Hptm. Herbert Lüttke, at least one victory, Fw Friedhelm Gierga, 3 victories; and Lt (first name unknown) Schön, Lt. Kurt Brügmann, Lt. Randonald Birkner and Fw. Kurt Rössler.

I have no locations for victory claims by any of the victories that I do have documented, so anything on this subject from a II./ZG26 pilot would be helpful.

Like I. Gruppe I'm also looking for any victory claims by BF of II./ZG26 during the FC.

Thanks for any help that you might be able to give on another difficult unit. Fortunately, III./ZG 26 is pretty well documented for victory claims during 1940.

Thanx,

Re: Victory List for II./ZG26 during the French Campaign

Hello

Regarding the questions by "focusfocus" I have the following info from the Weiss Collection:

1) The five 5./ZG26 victories on 31.5.40 (no times, no places) were:
Oblt. Theodor Rossiwall - 2 Spitfires
Obfw. Kurt Rochel - 2 Spitfires
Oblt. Arthur Niebuhr - 1 Spitfire

2) I have only one victory for Fw Hans Müller of 5 Staffel: one unknown type at unknown time and place on 18.5.40.

3) I have 3 victories listed for Fw. Friedhelm Gierga of 4 Staffel: all on unknown date during the French Campaign, and unknown time, place and type.

4) For the two other 4th Staffel pilots you asked about I have the following: with no dates, times or places: Oblt Randonald Birkner - unknown victories FC; 1 Battle of Britain; Obfw. Kurt Rösler - 2 victories FC; 2 Battle of Britain.

Hope this helps.

Re: Victory List for II./ZG26 during the French Campaign

hello larry

thanks for your answer to my question about II/ZG 26.

what do you think about that.
KURT ROCHEL is often credited with seven vict.(six in spain and one in ww2) but if he had one the 15/5/40,two the 31/5/40,one the 1/6/40,one the 2/9/40 and perhaps other that I don't know(info about other victories?) total ten or....

thank you very much

about HANS SCHMID
in the book of john vasco he had his victo.number 8 the 11/8/40,I think that he had six or seven in the french campagne but sorry I have no details perhaps anybody?
