Information on B-24 Liberator at Berca in 1943

I am currently researching a Log Book belonging to a pilot from 252 Squadron RAF. The attached picture is stuck into the log book (along with a few others) and I was intrigued by the apparent US fuselage markings and RAF tricolour on the tail fin. The serial number is clear and reads 123724. Can anyone tell me more about this aircraft? 'My' pilot was flying fighter affiliation with a Liberator on 30th April 1943 but I am not certain it was this aircraft.

Any help will be appreciated as this is certainly not my area of expertise.

41-23724 transferred Jan 23, 1944 from 376th BG to 718th BS, 449th BG, 15th AF, based at Grottaglie Airfield, Taranto, Italy.
Declared War Weary. Became a Utility Aircraft Used For Flying Parts and Various Administrative Support Missions. Salvaged on July 5, 1945
