Re: Photo Bristol Aircraft
Clint
A rather indifferent picture (for me that is), but I am puzzled by the name written after the date. Any interpretation perhaps? Place name? Serial 43 had been sent to Eastchurch (May) after its crash in March and basically stayed there until sent on a roundtrip to various bases, beginning with Felixstowe, in August. Serial 153 was in Portsmouth (having arrived 13 July) and since it was there for a Royal review, I doubt it would be anywhere else on the 18th. Cheers Stig |

Re: Photo Bristol Aircraft
Hello Stig,
I actually agree, not a brilliant photo. I posted because a] its a relatively rare aircraft and b] because the seller has material which I thought might interest other board users, but being either civilian or post war, was not material I would post myself. With regard to the name, I would tend to favour Hilsea in the Portsmouth area. I'm not definite though. However given both 43 and 153 seem to have been east coast based, not improbable either. Re: Photo Bristol Aircraft
Thanks Clint
Hilsea....oh well....I would never have guessed that by myself..... Seems to be a part of Portsmouth actually (I looked it up), so I buy that! Since No 153 after all was right there, my guess is we are one step ahead of the seller.... Cheers Stig |

Re: Photo Bristol Aircraft
Well Clint
Anything wrong with No 48Sq? Pictured aircraft was lost 21 Sep 1917 (not October) All sources I have agree about that. I take it your request about a unit for A7724 is a printing error? Perhaps you are still using winter gloves? (Just teasing...) Cheers Stig |

Re: Photo Bristol Aircraft
Hello Stig,
Apologies, I posted the image just prior to rushing off to pursue another activity and when I returned did a search. As you'll see I amended my post between the two events. Hopefully it didn't take you to write too long winter gloves or not. Regards, Clint |
