F/L David Mallett Rhodesian Air Force
I lost touch with with a freind David Mallett around 1970 and recently found out he had been killed flying a Dakota for 3 Sqd. Rhodesian Air Force in 1977. He had prevously served in the RAF flying Victor tankers, are there any sources for tracing his service in Rhodesia.

Re: F/L David Mallett Rhodesian Air Force
Brian
Unless there were more Malletts in the Rhodesian AF at this time he is mentioned as Flt Lt Mallett in A pride of Eagles by Beryl Salt and he evidently was part of Parachute Training School and is recorded as flying Dakota 7034 on Sept 28th 1976. The index just lists him at that date and also on a previous page. However the index is a bit "weak" in my opinion so he might be listed elsewhere in the book..... Ahh, keep looking, the book lists him in appendix 3 4382 David Edwin Mallett died 6.1.1977 with No 3 Sq as pilot of aircraft Dakota R7034 at Buffalo Range area in a flying accident. He was creamed at Warren Hills Cemetery Salisbury. All the best Stig |
