Heinkel He 111 data plate
The following information is recorded on a data plate located on a portion of the aircraft's tail:
L.S.L He 111.313-38 Kiel 10.42 Werk Nr 2883 I'd appreciate any information on this aircraft assuming that the werk nr. is that of the plane. |

Re: Heinkel He 111 data plate
Hi,
I may be wrong as I still haven't completed my 111 database but I don't think that the WNr relates to the aircraft directly. The first line is the manufacturer and the component part no, in this case the rudder trim tab; Kiel is the place of manufacture and production date is October 1942. The last detail I have on the aircraft 2883 is that it was a P-2 converted to P-4, with 2./KG55, which failed to return from an Ostfront sortie on 26 July 1941, all crew reported missing. However, I stress that I have not finished going through all my loss and manufacturer records so it could be that the aircraft was recovered and returned to action at a later date! Regards David |

Re: Heinkel He 111 data plate
Thanks for the reply David. It is much appreciated. The status of the werk nr.,that is, whether it relates to the aircraft or not, obviously is the key to the puzzle.
