Hurricane Claim by Fw Fernsebner 7/JG52 on 27 July 1940

I am looking for information for a claim by Fw Fernsebner of 7/JG52 for a Hurricane shot down at 17.50 over Dover on 27 July 1940, which is listed in Simon Parry's BOB Combat Archive. It is not included in Tony Woods O.K.L. Fighter Claims, or Mathews and Foreman's Luftwaffe Aces, or any other source that I can locate. The timing coincides with a claim for a Hurricane (F/L Cox, 510 Sq.) by Lt H Marx of 3/ErprGr210, which is fully documented in John Vasco's Erprobungsgruppe 210 book. Any thoughts on the Fernsebner claim would be much appreciated.

The Gruppe's participation in the Battle of Britain was... brief.

In Prien, Stemmer and others' JFV 4/II, page 166, the following excerpt would be relevant:

"...Nach zwei einsatzfreien Tagen war die Gruppe am 28. Juli wieder zu mehreren Einsätzen zur Stukabegleitung und zur freien Jagd über dem Kanal unterwegs, doch blieben die an diesem Tage geflogenen Einsätze sämtlich ohne zählbares Ergebnis..."

In short, the Gruppe apparently did not even fly combat sorties on 27 July 1940.

Sinisa

Hi,

III./JG52 was not engaged on 27.7.40 but there was a lot of flying on the next day. No claims were submitted by Fw. Fernsebner against RAF.

Regards

Robert
